Pride
There's so much I want to say to fill this space but somehow I can't find the words to write anything down. I would normally be able to find a topic to write about but today my mind is blank.
I just finished a book entitled 'Forbidden Love'. It is about a muslim girl living in Jordon and how she fell in love with a catholic boy. Their love for each other was discovered and the girl was stabbed to death by her father.
After reading this book, I felt a great sense of anger and sadness. How can a father be so heartless as to kill his only daughter because of pride?
Pride. The one thing that can get in the way when it's least desired. The one thing that can cause a person to fall so bad he'll find it so hard to stand again. However, it is also something that can help produce something good.
When one does his or her work with pride, the results can be seen in the quality and standard of the work. It would also determine how others view your contibutions. If you are proud of what you've done, others would see the impressive aspects of your work; but if you were to look only at the negative aspects of your work and are ashamed of what you've done then that would most probably be the way others view your work.
However, when it comes to breaking the law, then pride is something that if fed, would continue to expand and give the person the added boost to continue his or her unlawful ways.
Yet, pride, no doubt it is a good thing, it can also be something very undesired. Why is it so hard for someone to eat humble pie when necessary? Why does pride drive people to do crazy things?
Pride, you are a blindfold.
A blindfold that keeps people from seeing the right path
A blindfold that makes people fall into the dark pits of life
A blindfold that can cause much unhappiness.
